Charm City WiFi
Kudos to Mayor O'Malley for encouraging the development of a wireless Internet service in Baltimore. Municipal WiFi isn't the most pressing of issues, I'll admit, but it's one of those things that can make a city more attractive and forward looking. And given that Verizon, AT&T, et al have started to act like they own the Internet -- the net neutrality battle is hardly the beginning, or the end, of their machinations -- it will be important for cities, states, and (one hopes) the country to declare that the Internet is a public good, like water and electricity, and to take steps to ensure that.
